The Merrill House committee believes the presence of talented writers enriches the life of the community. Its policy is therefore to enable the writer-in-residence to become a part of the community and to share their work, their ideas, and their experiences though readings, workshops, and informal gatherings.

Each year, the James Merrill House Committee invites a distinguished speaker to deliver The Annual James Merrill Lecture. This year will be the eighth in our series and will feature noted critic and scholar, Helen Vendler. It will be held at the La Grua Center on Water Street in Stonington, CT, on Sunday, June 10th at 5pm. The lecture, as all James Merrill House Committee events, is free and open to the public.

James Merrill's apartment is open to the general public four afternoons a year. At other times, visits may be arranged by appointment. Please contact us via our website for more information and directions.

To learn more about our activities, see our Spring 2011 newsletter.
