We'll not lose touch: Experiments with Merrill's Letters. In this workshop, we'll borrow language from James Merrill's staggering record of correspondence to spur our own writing, epistolary and beyond.
About your instructor: Isabel Neal is the James Merrill House June fellow. Neal is a poet and teacher from New England. She is the author of Thrown Voice (Yale University Press, 2026), which won the 2025 Yale Younger Poets Prize. Her work appears or is forthcoming in Waxwing, The Yale Review, Tupelo Quarterly, The Academy of American Poets Poem-a-Day, and elsewhere. She was a 2024 Lighthouse Works Fellow (Fishers Island, NY) and has been the recipient of fellowships and grants from Haystack Open Studio (Deer Isle, ME), the Rackham International Institute (Ann Arbor, MI), and the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center (Provincetown, MA). She holds an M.F.A. in Poetry from the University of Michigan and lives in southern Maine.
